Default Proph Monk help.

Hey guys(and gals~). I made a monk in Prophecies a little while ago, and I need a good suggestion for a healing and/or smite build. (Preferably ONLY skills that are available in prophecies.)

While I do own all 3 campaigns and GWEN, I prefer to play through one first, then move to another and beat it, then move to the next one, etc. etc. I hate leaving half way done just to get more skills, and then come back to finish it. (..Well, that and my monk hasn't even made it to the port town yet.(Lion's Arch?) He's barely made it past Yak's Bend atm.)

I'd like a good smite build if possible, for when I play by myself, and a good healing build for when I play with friends. So...if you can offer any help, thanks! ^_^;;

P.S. I will eventually complete Proph and move to other campaigns, and thus will need builds for those someday, but that's a while off yet. xD;

Edit: Although, theres a lot of "Unlocked" skills in the skill trainer's menu. So maybe I don't need JUST prophecy suggestions for the normal skills? >_>;

Tomes! Use tomes if you don't want to go to the other campaigns.. if you want I could put up some monk builds (once I get home...) but they will most likely contain NF, Factions and EotN skills. Anyway, back to what I was saying.. USE TOMES! lol

u dun really need to get far in the other campaigns to learn their skills

factions = kaineng center
nitefall = kamadan
eotn = eye of the north

that really only requires the initial first travelling quest to get to those places, except for eotn, which takes jus a lil bit of a further walk

wut lvl r u?
and how far r u?

one of the first monk elites u get
(word of healing in crystal desert)
should prolly become the elite to use

in low lvls, there arent many build options...
so i wont even bother to try to make one lol
jus use wutever skills u've learned thus far

Uuhh, around level.. 13 or 14? and I believe I'm one mission past Yak's bend. xD (I've been playing a lot of CS:S lately, so haven't gotten him that far. >_>; )

Edit: Molock, I can't afford monk tomes, atm. I've never been particularly rich in GW. (And I have absolutely no idea how much tomes cost, lol.)

PvP a little (RA, TA, whatever) to bring up ur balth faction. Unlock skills at the Priest of Balthazar, and buy the skills at the skill trainers. As Snaek said, you don't need to progress much in either game to learn the skills.

I would just use what you have in the way of healing and smiting if that is what you really want to do.You can make up a nice heal/protect hybrid from what you have.

[orison of healing][vigorous Spirit][reversal of fortune][guardian][remove hex][purge conditions][resurrect] or [restore life]

Secondary skill optional

Prophecies isn't the strongest for smiting skills, Nightfall came out with a few good ones, along with Factions.

Heres a suggestion. If your running Proph first, with no heroes, and your doing henchman, Go smite. I only say this because healing henchman gets annoying after a while. Its nice to let Alesia (Can't believe im saying that) and Lina (when you get her, Use her!) To do the healing and you cover damage. But if you like healing NPC's that don't run out of AoE, be my guest lol.

But yea, NF and Factions has some of the better smite skills.

That's what I've been doing. This is the first healing character I've ever made, so I'm used to being the one that's doing the damage, not healing. XD But yeah, when I play with friends, THEN I heal.

What is your secondary profession? When I made my monk she was a Mo/Me so I just acted as a domination mesmer (Backfire, Empathy, etc, Prophecies actually has some nice mesmer skills) up until I got to end-game and managed to venture over to NF and Factions to get some decent healing/protection skills. If you have a spell-casting secondary, considering the lack of good smiting skills for Prophecies-only monk, just spec into your secondary and run it. Henchmen don't care if you're a primary monk who doesn't heal

this isn't a bad build.

What's your secondary? If it's Elementalist, [gole] is a good energy management skill. If it's mesmer, try [Channeling] or something else in inspiration, but those require you to spec in Inspiration. [Divine Spirit] you get a bit later, but isn't a bad e-management skill either.

I'd replace [vigorous spirit] with [heal other] or [dwayna's kiss] asap (those are a little further down the line) [mend ailment] is better than Purge conditions just because of the refresh time. [mend condition] I like a bit better.

Beyond that, look for [woh] as your first elite in the desert. You may not need another.

^Thanks I was just thinking of what skills were around Yaks Bend and I do agree with the replacements later on.

I would just like to say that prophecies does have some good smiting skills like the rest of the other camps do but this is the player first monk so it best that he learn how to play role as it was meant to be played.

At what level should one expect to obtain Word of Healing? I just read a thing that said it is in the fissure of woe which costs gold to enter and is an 8 man zone which you can't use henchmen for.

Is it really hard to get word of healing? Any links to guide or advice?

You get Word of Healing in Thirsty River mission or any of the desert missions and to cap it in FoW you need to be ascended so you will be lvl 20.That is a good lvl to start using it.

Defender's Zeal will probably your elite for smiting. You cap it really late into Nightfall but that problem's been fixed with tomes. Smiter's boon, reverse damage, smite hex and smite conditions are easily spammable as long as you have Defender's Zeal on somebody.Divine boon, splinter weapon, castigation signet and judge's insight would be some optionals.

What he said.

Basicly, you need to be high enough level to be able to do one of the desert missions. I did it at level 14 (after running from Lion's Arch to Sanctum Cay myself), but you'll probably be closer to 20 if you don't skip the jungle.

FYI: This Wiki Entry is highly useful for the OP's question, as well as a guide to when you get skills in general in Proph.

Just use what you have like most of the above people said. For my monk, I wanted to be a 55 so I got ran to the southern shiverpeaks, bought max armor and Capped Soj at Lvl 15( With henchmen) But you really should jsut go through the game and get WoH.
